Let me introduce you to the very delicious handmade noodles store at 558 Geylang Lorong 32! But I shall first give you a heads up on the waiting time there- it’s a 20-40 mins wait most of the time BUT it is totally worth the time! I have queued multiple times with my sister to eat the most satisfying bowl of noodles sold out there!

The only fault I can find there is the inadequate number of fans.  Gosh, it’s so hot (the shades weren’t helping much) so bring tissues to wipe your face of the excess perspiration. It reminds me a bit of the old hawker centre I had patronized more than a decade ago, haha.

The noodles there come in different varieties but is mostly similar to what you can find out there, but what is special about them is a bowl of handmade noodles with meat doesn’t just have minced meat, it as sliced lean meat as well. The amount of minced meat you can find in the bowl isn’t less than what is offered at other stores (Some aunties selling the noodles at $4 can give you a teaspoon of meat though they use a tablespoon…)

You Mian with Fish

The bowl that I eat most of the time is the you mian with fish. This bowl has both the sliced fish and minced meat. Of course, it’s not just the amount of ingredients that entice me and name it “the most satisfying bowl”. I find the soup rich and it’s not very salty. The noodles is not hard but still chewy. Out of all the bowls I have ordered from them, only one bowl had some noodles lumped together. Another great thing is the chilly!! I love spicy food and this chilli isn’t going to let anyone like me down:) So that’s a plus point – they aren’t stingy in any aspect seriously.

The fish in this bowl doesn’t have fishy smell that makes the entire bowl of noodles unpleasant. This bowl costs $5.50. It’s priced higher than some other bowls because there’s fish.

There’s the dry version as well.

They use the sweet dark sauce for the dry version, but it’s not really sweet.

If you ask me, I like the soup version more. Not suggesting that the dry noodles is not tasty, it’s just personal preference and the soup taste better with the noodles.

You Mian with Fishballs

My sister always order this bowl of noodles. I have never tried a bowl of it but have eaten one of the fishballs. It’s really soft, bouncy and fresh – what you look for in fine fishballs.

In this bowl, you can find both the fishballs and minced meat. It costs $4.80 (cheaper than the fish bowl).

This is why the wait is long

The queue most of the time and it can get longer than this

My sister told me the cook is already preparing 4 bowls at one go and the wait can still be 20 mins long so the number of people queuing is really a lot.

There are actually quite a number of tables there but many a times it’s crowded. The opening hours are from 11am-9pm. But though they say 9pm, the last order is around 8:30pm – it depends on how much they have left of the day. They are closed on Mondays.

You should really try this store at least once. I didn’t regret my decision in trying because at first I was dreading it after hearing the waiting time. But really, the bowl of noodles didn’t let me down.
